Steve and Rudy Salas grew up in East Los Angeles and began performing at neighborhood bazaars and events at the very young age of 9 and 11. With their fathers consent, the Salas Brothers started performing with The Jaguars at El Monte Legion Stadium, the Paramount Ballroom and other local venues.
By 1965 the boys had been introduced to Eddie Davis who took them into the studio to record their first record. “Darling (Please Bring Your Love) and “Leaving You” were released on Davis’ Faro label (Faro 614) in 1965. “Darling” was a remake of Phil & Harv’s classic ballad from 1961.

Another Awesome 👍story love the Salas so many beautiful memories, specially wen they took off to Carnie hall in New York , or the time they brought a 33 footer motorhome to Keith St. and took off to so many States to perform, If I could remember my brother Ernie & Mario Sepala went with them for 2 days but had to return back...we wer so excited for Rudy & Steve, wen they return back my mom made them Mole...yummers, the whole block was very supportive

🌹❤️Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there! Today, I want to honor my own mother, Martha Salas, and my grandmother, who both played integral roles in the creation of Tierra. While my father focused on perfecting Tierra's music in the 70s, my mother worked tirelessly, supporting him every step of the way until Tierra achieved national fame in 1981. Additionally, my grandmother's talent as a singer and guitarist deeply influenced my dad and uncle, shaping the very soul of Tierra. With a very heavy heart, my good friend and "brother" Rudy Moreno passed away last night. He had several issues hit him all at once and has been hospitalized for a couple of weeks..... Prayers to a good man who brought so much love and laughter... My condolences to his wife Arlene, son Nate and daughter Veronica.
